Enable serverless compute

Serverless compute for notebooks and jobs is in Private Preview.

This article explains how to enable serverless compute for notebooks, jobs, and Delta Live Tables.

This feature can only be used in workspaces that meet the eligibility requirements. For more information on serverless compute, see Connect to serverless compute.

Enable serverless compute

Important

Serverless compute for notebooks and jobs has unrestricted access to the public internet by default. To configure network security features, see Serverless compute plane networking.

To enable serverless compute for notebooks and jobs in your workspace:

  1. As a workspace admin, click your user icon in the top bar of the workspace and select Previews.

  2. Enable Serverless Compute for Workflows and Notebooks.

Your workspace is now enabled for serverless compute. All users in the workspace can now use serverless compute. Data access permissions are configured separately.

Note

In workspaces that are not eligible, the serverless option is disabled and includes a tooltip explaining why the workspace is ineligible.

Eligibility

To be eligible for serverless compute for notebooks and jobs, your workspace must meet the following requirements:

  • Must have Unity Catalog enabled.

  • Must be in a supported region: us-central1 or us-east1.
